The Highland AND Lowland Brigades' Club

In March 2006, as a result of a further Defence Review, the Regiments of The Scottish Division were merged to form The Royal Regiment of Scotland.

In June 2007 an inaugural meeting of The Highland and Lowland Brigades’ Club was held. Lieutenant General Sir John MacMillan KCB, CBE was the President and Brigadier ED Cameron OBE was Chairman. The President indicated that he wished to stand down and proposed that Major General M J Strudwick CBE should replace him. This proposal was unanimously agreed.

The two original Clubs had evolved significantly since they were founded but The Highland and Lowland Brigades’ Club objects remain true to the original purposes of both.

The Highland and Lowland Brigades' Club

Constitution

The Club was formed in 2006 as a result of the merger of Scotland’s Infantry Regiments into The Royal Regiment of Scotland. At the time of the merger, Scotland’s Infantry Regiments were The Royal Scots (The Royal Regiment), The Royal Highland Fusiliers (Princess Margaret’s Own Glasgow and Ayrshire Regiment, The King’s Own Scottish Borderers, The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment), The Highlanders (Seaforth, Gordons and Camerons) and The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders (Princess Louise’s) – They shall be referred to from here on as “the antecedent Regiments”. At that time, the Highland and Lowland Regiments both had separate sporting and social clubs and it is from the merger of the Highland Brigade Club and Lowland Brigade Club that the Club is formed. The business of the Club is undertaken by the Committee on behalf of the members.
